OLIVAL DAS HORTAS - Grândola/Setúbal/Portugal Olival das Hortas lies in the province Alentejo. A piece of Portugal which rests under the blanket of Lisbon. The town has a pleasant centre with snuggy shoppingstreets and small squares, still a lot of typical shops are hidden . Monthly (every second Monday of the month) there is a large, authentic gipsy fair. Our farmhouse is in the protected nature reserve "Serra de Grandola". Completely surrounded by coarktrees, olivetrees and many other fruittrees. There is enough to see, something for everybody, plenty of flora and fauna. There are two seperate houses for rent. • The secound guest-house "the Ruins" (because that’s what is was a year ago), lies beautiful on a higher part of the hill in a square. Which can be completly locket up, it’s very private with a very nice,big terrace. Outside furniture, a hammock, bbq and all the relatinf things are present. Really enjoy the stately views, peace and quietness of the envirement. • Inside it has two big bedrooms with build in closets. • A big living-room with woodstove, tv/satellite, an dining area. • The kitchen is luxuryand fully furnished: coffee-maker, microwave, cooking-range, refrigirator, crockery. • The bath room has shower / lavatory / washstand (hairdryer) • The first guest-house "casa da piscina" has two floors and is nearby the pool. The ground-floor has a living-room with all the things you need, a woodstove,tv/satellite and a kitchen with dining area. • The kitchen is fully furnished: refrigirator, microwave, cooking- range, coffee-maker etc... and most of it all it has a beautiful view. • The bathroom with shower / lavatory / washstand (hairdryer) • The first floor has two bedrooms. • The outside has a terrace with furniture and a bbq. The surroundings are breathtaking and the different beaches are just waiting to be explored. Monte Horizonte is located in the wonderful Alentejo Province at only 15 minutes from the beach and just five minutes of the historic city Santiago do Cacém. The Alentejo lies between Lisbon and the Algarve. The coast area’s landscape has a size of 5.100 km2; the coastline offers 160 km of unspoiled white beaches stretching from Troia to the Algarve. Monte Horizonte is located in the middle of this which makes it possible to reach completely different beaches in just a short while. The history of the area can be seen in Megalithic sites, Roman remains, Moorish relics, Medieval castles, Manueline monuments and Baroque palaces and churches. Santiago do Cacém is nowadays connected with Santiago de Compostela due to a lot of comparisons in history. But Santiago do Cacém is not only history. You can stroll through the small streets shopping or enjoy a drink on one of the many terraces. There is a huge variety of restaurants as well. The region is an idyllic spot for those seeking sun, relaxation, nature and local culture. It is also a year-round destination for fans of the great outdoors, with cycling, mountain biking, walking, horse riding, bird watching, nordic walking and water sports among the many activities available. For those of you with children the surf camps are close by where your kids could have a marvelous week. On our property of 20 hectares (completely surrounded by coarktrees, olivetrees and many other fruittrees) we have a house available, with a terrace and views. The house is 128 m2 with 2 large livingrooms, 2 open kitchens, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is suitable for 8 to 12 persons. The house is fully fitted with modern conveniences.
